Constantly happens to me whenever the router re-assigns a new IP address to the printer. The only way I have been able to fix it (apart from assigning a permanent IP address) is to use NetSpot installer (from Canon, on the installation CD) to delete the device and then re-detect it.

Voi kurjuus, olen koko kevään yrittänyt löytää tietoa tämän vuoden Finnconin tutkijatapaamisesta, mutta jostain syystä en ole useilla googlauksilla tätäkään infopläjäystä tavoittanut. Osallistuminen tapaamiseen maisterivaiheen opiskelijatyöllä olisi hieman houkutellut, mutta tämä deadline ei taida onnistua näin myöhäisellä havahtumisella.
Kuinkahan FINFARin tapahtumista, etenkin tuosta tutkijatapaamisesta saisi parhaiten tietoa, näin tulevaisuutta ajatellen?

Steve – my pleasure As to the interface, what has really started to irritate me over time is that all the basic OS control elements are hidden: there is no start button, and no visible hint on what the user should do. It is difficult to find your way to the settings, and you have to resort to endless try-and-see game, or to reading hints and tips online about the “proper” use of the Win8 interface.

As you say, it may be that it will only be with the touch screen enabled devices when transition to Win8 starts to make proper sense. There are some more advanced features in Win8, but I find myself still logging into Win7 for better overall user experience.

Ditto. Thanks for the tip on the AHCI to ATA tip. Not too sure about the Metro UI yet. Seems unpolished and more like some kind of kids game to me than a functional interface. Maybe I’ll feel differently after I get a multi-touch screen and have the final version of Windows 8 loaded. Time will tell!

For me it was the firewall, added the some exceptions for all the canon applications and that worked. the canon applications are at:

C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3

CPC10DAE.exe
CPC10QAE.exe

Thank you so much for posting this. I have been trying to install 8 on my Dell Studio laptop and was getting the corrupt error message.

Yep, that is true. It is just interesting to reflect sometimes on the tools that we are relying on daily basis, and reflect upon what is actually going on “behind the curtains”, or in the engine room.
