An advance warning: since I am making a transition to a new server (and a new server OS, plus a new version of WordPress), this site will be frozen and all commenting functions temporarily frozen today. Sorry, lets hope site transition will be over soon. Since I will be carrying servers physically around, as well as transferring the databases and files, there might be times today when the entire site and domain will be offline.
Edit: this is continuation post of my log about transition to IIS 7.0 (Windows Web Server 2008).
Ok, the database part of the transition is now done (writing this to the new copy of blog in IIS 7.0 server).
The files and folders should now also be available here.
Continuing the testing of this new installation. It appears that media/image uploads suffer from some kind of bug at the moment. The image resizing does not work. All you can get is the original size image, which is not good. All thumbnail, medium size etc. options are grey. There is discussion here from people who are having similar issue (and apparently their bug is also showing on a Windows Server): http://wordpress.org/support/topic/237454
So the reason seems to be that WordPress does not connect with GD library, which does the resizing bit. Yet, I have this in my PHP.INI, so I am not sure what is wrong: extension=php_gd2.dll.
Well, I need to get back to my family now. Well enough. Two days of intense work and an (almost) working installation of WordPress in Windows Web Server 2008. 🙂
